Cobus Creek originates in southern Michigan and is one of the few cold water streams in Indiana. At the Conservation Club a fishery is located above the creek and the old cabin is nearby. Here brown trout are raised and released into Cobus Creek and other area cold water streams. Fishing on the grounds is catch and release only.
Indiana DNR and the Bodine Hatchery assisted the Club in building the brown trout tanks and pumping systems that sustain the trout from eggs to adult release size. Elkhart Conservation Club volunteers maintain the fishery and feed the trout until they can be swimming on their own.
